Mathias Minet and I came up with the idea for the Tea School (l’École du Thé, in French) in 1999. As our shops grew increasingly successful, giving us less time to spend with individual customers at the counter, we realized that the Tea School would be the ideal space to share and teach our knowledge.
Passing on knowledge has always been at the heart of our mission at Palais des Thés.
We developed an original teaching methodology based on tasting experience and sensory analysis, much like the approaches used for fine wines and spirits.
The Tea School was the first initiative of its kind in France.
In nearly 30 years, we have welcomed more than 25,000 students to the Tea School in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, and now also in Bordeaux and Marseille.
At the Tea School, we train the Palais des Thés team, as well as individuals looking to discover tea or refine their tasting skills. We also welcome culinary professionals who want to learn how to prepare and serve tea, pair it with food, or even use it in cooking.
Our trainers, master tea sommeliers, guide both beginners and connoisseurs. They share their passion and expertise to make tea knowledge accessible to everyone.
